Summary

One of the most anticipated movies for 2009 is Public Enemies. The film is an adaptation of Bryan Burrough’s book Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34.  The film is set to be released on July 1, 2009 and stars actors Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Channing Tatum, Stephen Graham and Academy Award winner Marion Cortillard. It is directed by Michael Mann, the man who directed Collateral, and Miami Vice.

The story revolves around three of the most notorious American Gangsters from the 1930′s named John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd. During that time, The Great Depression, crime was at an all time high. FBI Agent, Melvin Purvis, takes it upon himself to stop these criminals and bring them to justice.

John Dillinger and his gang were unstoppable. During the Great Depression people had little appreciation for banks. Dillinger’s charm and his many jailbreaks made him endearing to the public during a time of great need.

Dillinger’s many adventures gave the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation an idea to exploit Dillinger’s capture as a way to elevate his bureau into the national police we known now as the FBI. This made Dillinger America’s Number One Public Enemy.

This action filled movie will take you on a ride to experience Dillinger and his gangs many adventures as he outsmarts and outwits FBI Agent Melvin Purvis, but are ultimately able to close in on Dillinger.
